Fight Club musical information

The Fight Club musical is just at the point of rumor and speculation at this point, and its production has not been definitively yet. None the less, the Fight Club Musical has been the subject of Broadway speculation for years. Perhaps in these tough economics times the Fight Club musical has to be put on the back burner, as Broadway is bracing for a weak winter, but David Fincher, who directed the film, has stated in the past that he would have liked to show to come out for the Fight Club movie ten year anniversary. “One of the things I want at the 10-year anniversary is to do ‘Fight Club’ as a musical on Broadway. I love the idea of that,” Fincher told MTV.com. Whether or not that will happen is yet to be seen, but the major players involved have repeatedly said they would like to see a Fight Club musical at some point.

Even the Fight Club author Chuck Palahnuik as even stated he is all for it. You would think that the ultra-macho Palahnuik might be apprehensive about having his character singing and dancing, but surprisingly enough he think it would be a cool idea. “If it happens, it would be extraordinary,” Palahnuik told MTV.com. “Everybody would look at me like a leper, [But] I always saw it as a comedy.” Perhaps it might be easier because all he would have to do is collect the royalty checks. “I might write the book or the script,” Palahnuik said, “but [a musical is] a whole different animal for me.”

It also seems that the most fitting musical artist out there right now, Trent Reznor, has been rumored to be writing the music for the show. “The last I heard from David was that Trent Reznor was going to do the music,” said Palahnuik. “Maybe ‘Choke’ the musical will be next!” Reznor is of course the front-man for Nine Inch Nails, the tech-rock group that has been said to have invented the entire metal-rock genre in its current incarnation. NIN was last tapped for a film for David Lynch 1997 cult-classic “The Lost Highway.” Reznor was heavily involved in the soundtrack for the film and you might remember the hit “The Perfect Drug” from the soundtrack.

Who would star in the Fight Club musical is also up in the air. Edward Norton has said he wouldn’t join the cast, but who knows if he might change his mind. Norton also said that Brad Pitt isn’t much of a singer, so he might be out as well. For whatever its worth, Jared Leto has also said he will not be involved..

In addition to the Figh Club movie, David FIncher has also directed the classic “Se7en,” the upcoming “The Curious Case of Benjamin Button,” “Zodiac,” “Panic Room,” “The Game” and Alien 3.
